North Korea, Trading Up

North Korea still has a few friends. China accounts for over 70 percent of its total trade. The North's trade with China jumped 60 percent in 2011 to over $5.6 billion. The North's main import from China is oil - and China charges North Korea more for it than other customers, according to the Nautilus Institute. The North has also reportedly shipped in around 100,000 surveillance cameras in the past few years. Coal, and metals including gold and iron make up most of the North's exports.
