Steven Matthews covers the cities of Huber Heights, Fairborn and Riverside. H grew up in West Milton, OH, and graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, where he freelanced for the News-Sun. Matthews began writing for the Pulse Journal in May of 2003, and has covered Lakota East, Lakota West, Mason, Kings, Little Miami and Fairfield high school athletics. He covered these areas until August of 2011.

He  covered education for the Pulse and Middletown Journal until Feb. 2012 when he joined the Dayton Daily News staff.
