THS harriers take first place

The Talawanda cross country team opened the season at the First Time to The Line meet hosted by Eaton at Fort St. Clair on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

The high school boys team placed first and were led by senior Thomas Harp who finished in third place. Other top ten finishers for the Braves were sophomores Matt Day and Jim Alexander and junior Kyle Biggs.

Completing the scoring for the Braves were Joe Carlin, Derek Bailey and Tyler Forrest.

The girls team did not have enough finishers to figure in the team scoring, but were paced by sophomore Shelby Bachman who placed fifth and junior Kathryn Starrett who finished ninth.

The middle school girls team of Kayla Hawkins, Laina Reisenfeld, Carly Kimiceik, Chelsea Abshire, Beret Pieterich and Laura Jones placed third. The middle school boys did not figure in the team scoring, but were led by seventh grader Robbie Alexander who placed fifth.

The next meet for the Braves will be this Saturday at the Middletown Christian Eagle Invitational.
