The No. 8-seeded Talawanda Braves will open play in the

2008 Cincinnati II sectional

tournament against the No. 6-seeded Western Brown at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Western Brown.

The Braves entered this week

14-8 overall and 7-3 in Fort Ancient Valley Conference Scarlet Division play, tied for second in the final standings with Ross.

Edgewood won the division by a half-game, with a record of 8-2 in the FAVC Scarlet.

Talawanda brought a two-game winning streak into this week after defeating Norwood, 3-0, on April 30, and Union County High School 7-1 on May 1.

Those two wins got the Braves back on the winning track after a pair of one-run losses earlier in the week.

The Braves fell 2-1 at Norwood on Monday and 4-3 at home to Monroe in extra innings on Tuesday.

Those losses ended a seven-game winning streak.
