JG MIXED MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY HOLDING FREE CLINIC FOR KIDS: The JG Mixed Martial Arts Academy in West Chester — the training facility for Jorge Gurgel, member of the UFC and The Ultimate Fighter 2 reality show star — is offering a free Spring Break clinic for kids on Wednesday. The clinic is open to kids in grades K through 12. There will be two sessions per day. On each day, the first session will be for kids in grades K-6. It will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The second session for kids in grades 7-12 will run from 2-4 p.m. The clinic will cover Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission grappling, Muay Thai and American boxing. JR. NBA AND JR. WNBA LEAGUES FORMING: The Kingdom Sports Recreation Center, in Franklin, is taking registrations for a pair of youth recreational leagues. NAYS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT HAS OPENINGS: The National American Youth Sports basketball tournament, which will be held at Madison High School April 13-15, has openings in the following brackets: ninth- and 10th-grade boys, 11th- and 12th-grade boys, high school girls, fifth- and sixth-grade girls, seventh- and eighth-grade boys, seventh- and eighth-grade girls and fifth- and sixth-grade girls. CARLISLE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT APRIL 20-22: The Carlisle Baseball Association will host a Preseason Tournament April 20-22 for recreation leagues only. Cost is $125 per team. AAU SUPER REGIONAL AT KINGDOM: The Kingdom Sports Center in Franklin will host several AAU Super Regional Basketball Tournaments including a tournament for boys in grades 4-7 that will be held the weekend of April 20. Cost is $300 per team. For boys in grades 8-12, a tournament is scheduled for the weekend of April 27. Cost is $300 per team. NMFD HOLDING GOLF SCRAMBLE: The New Miami Fire Department is sponsoring the fifth annual Johnny Hubbard Golf Scramble on April 21 at Twin Run Golf Course. All proceeds go to Christmas events for children and needy families. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per foursome. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Food will be furnished at the turn and also at the end of the scramble. There also will be door prizes and awards for winning teams. TALAWANDA HOSTING SCRAMBLE: The third annual Talawanda Football Golf Scramble will take place Sunday, April 29, at Indian Ridge Golf Club. The cost is $260 per team, which includes green fees, cart, range balls, food, drinks and door prizes. The scramble is scheduled for a 1:30 shotgun start and is limited to the first 32 paid teams. RON CHASTEEN MEMORIAL GOLF SCRAMBLE SET FOR MAY 20: The 12th annual Ron Chasteen Memorial Golf Scramble will be held May 20 at the Fairfield Golf Course with a dinner and awards banquet to follow. This is a best-ball scramble with prizes awarded to first-, second- and third-place teams. The cost is $85 per person, which includes golf, cart, prizes, dinner and refreshments. All proceeds go to the Ron Chasteen Scholarship Fund, which to date has raised more than $68,000. Hole sponsors and door prizes also are being sought. DARRELL HUNTER COMMUNITY DAY IN MAY: Several events will be part of the inaugural Darrell Hunter Community Day festivities May 26-27 in Middletown. Hunter, a Middletown High grad and Miami University graduate who now plays football for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, is hosting the event to raise money for the Susan G. CBS SUMMER BASEBALL, FAST-PITCH CAMPS SCHEDULED: The Cincinnati Baseball School's summer camp season is June 4 through Aug. 17. Camps are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for boys and girls, ages 5-18, at the Pisgah Youth Organization fields on Reading Road (Route 42) in West Chester. ROSS HOLDING BOYS BASKETBALL SKILLS CAMP: The Ross High boys basketball program will host its annual summer basketball skills camp June 4-7 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Ross High and Elda Elementary. The second- through fourth-grade campers will report to Elda, and the fifth- through ninth-grade campers will report to the high school. The cost of the camp is $65 if you register before May 30. There will be a $10 extra charge for anyone who signs up after the due date. Each camper will receive a camp basketball and T-shirt. EDGEWOOD BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP IN JUNE: The Edgewood boys basketball camp for boys entering grades 3-8 will be held June 11-13. Camp for players in grades 3-5 will be from 9 a.m. to noon, and camp for players in grades 6-8 will be from 1 to 4 p.m. each day. Instruction will be from Edgewood coaches and varsity players, and all campers will receive a basketball camp T-shirt. Cost is $40 per person. MASANEK'S CAMP OF CHAMPS TAKING REGISTRATIONS: Ron Masanek's Camp of Champs will run June 11-14 at Fairfield High. Workout 1 will be from 9-11 a.m. daily, and Workout 2 will run from 12-2 p.m. each day. The camp is ideal for beginning wrestlers. The objective is to teach strong fundamentals and develop the basic skills and knowledge set required to compete at any level. LACROSSE TOURNAMENT IN LEBANON: The Lebanon Sports Compex on McClure Road will be the Ohio site for the US Lacrosse Cup, a tournament for boys and girls ages 15 and under that is held in 14 states. The tournament will be June 23-24 with 40 teams from Ohio competing for a chance to reach the national tournament Labor Day weekend in Denver, Colo. MIDDLETOWN GIRLS BASKETBALL SHOOTOUT IN JUNE: The first Middie Shootout presented by the Middletown girls basketball program will be held June 30 at Middletown High School.
