Lakota West's Phelan commits to Miami

WEST CHESTER TWP. — Lakota West offensive lineman Andrew Phelan is headed to Miami University.
Phelan, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle, committed to the RedHawks on Wednesday.

Phelan, a first-team, All-Greater Miami Conference and special mention All-Ohio as a junior, also considered Ohio and Toledo, with South Florida and West Virginia showing recent interest.
"Miami is really close to home," Phelan said. "I like the fact that my parents will be able to come and watch me play. Miami is a great school and they have a great football program."
Phelan said Alex Kaufman, a 2007 West graduate and freshman linebacker for the RedHawks, helped him make the decision.
