CRC TO HOLD ADULT SOFTBALL SIGNUPS: The Cincinnati Recreation Commission's Athletic Division will hold registration for its adult summer softball season, today until the leagues are filled. Leagues are offered for Co-Rec and Men's teams and will be played at Schmidt fields. Each league will be scheduled to play an eight-game season. Leagues will begin June 10 or as soon as the spring leagues are completed. League fees are $285 for unlighted teams and $350 for the lighted teams. BEST IN WEST CAMP SET FOR JUNE: The Best in the West Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 3-9 will be held June 5-8 at Lakota West High School. The cost is $75 with a $10 discount if registered May 19, and a $5 discount for sisters, or a total cost of $150 for three or more athletes in the same family. CITY OF HAMILTON DAY SLATED FOR GABP: The Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department announces that the City of Hamilton Day 2007 will be held at 1:15 p.m., June 10 at Great American Ball Park when the Reds play the Cleveland Indians. The day will mark the anniversary of Joe Nuxhall's first pitch in the major leagues. Pre-game festivities will celebrate City of Hamilton Day and "Hamilton Joe's" first pitch. The cost is $25 per person and will include game ticket and transportation to and from the game. Reservations are being taken now. OHIO U. BASEBALL HOLDING CAMPS: The Ohio University baseball program will hold four-day hitting and pitching day camps for players ages 8-13 from June 11-14 at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens. Bobcat Head Coach Joe Carbone and his staff will instruct players in both hitting and pitching camps over the four days. The pitching camp will take place from 9-11 a.m. each day with the hitting camp taking place from noon-2 p.m. Both camps will use video analysis to break down player performance. GIRLS DEVELOPMENTAL BASKETBALL CAMP AT MONROE: There will be a girls developmental basketball camp for girls entering grades 2-5 beginning June 4 at Monroe High School. SALVATION ARMY TO HOLD OPEN GYM: The Salvation Army, located at 235 Ludlow St. in Hamilton, will hold open gyms beginning June 12 through Aug. 17 on Tuesday and Thursday nights for girls and boys, ages 10-13 (Tuesday nights) and ages 14-16 (Thursday nights). Supervision will be provided by The Salvation Army personnel. Participants will be required to follow set guidelines and sign in each night. A $1 fee must be paid before each night of play. Money collected from the fee will be used to provide sports drinks for players.
SHOOTING STARS HOOPS CAMP AT OBERLIN COLLEGE: Oberlin College will be the site of a Shooting Stars youth basketball camp, June 17-21. FORE THE KIDS GOLF TOURNEY SATURDAY: Terrace Park Kindervelt, a non-profit fundraising auxiliary of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, is holding its first annual Fore the Kids Golf Tournament on Saturday at Legendary Run Golf Course, in Cincinnati. Proceeds benefit the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. ROSS HOLDING BOYS BASKETBALL SKILLS CAMP: The Ross High boys basketball program will host its annual summer basketball skills camp from 8:30-11:30 a.m., June 4-7 at Ross High and Elda Elementary. MASANEK'S CAMP OF CHAMPS TAKING REGISTRATIONS: Ron Masanek's Camp of Champs will run June 11-14 at Fairfield High.
