Secretary of State John Kerry John Kerry, born 12/11/43, was confirmed as Secretary of State for the Obama administration in January 2013. He was the Democratic Party's presidential candidate in 2004, losing to then President George W. Bush.
Mr. Kerry was a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts before becoming Secretary of State.
