Dragons get just two hits in loss
Friday, August 15, 2008
MIDLAND, Mich. — The Dayton Dragons scratched out one run on their measly two hits and fell 4-1 to the Great Lakes Loons on Thursday, Aug. 14.
The Dragons scored in the second inning, helped by one of Great Lakes' three errors. But Dayton pitchers Juan Rafael (3-2) and Derrick Conatser got no more help.
Great Lakes pounded out 10 hits as Alfredo Silverio hit a home run and drove in three for the Loons.
Catcher Devin Mesoraco had both of Dayton's hits — one a double — and scored the only run. Despite the loss, Dayton maintained a three-game lead on the Fort Wayne Wizards in the wild-card race.
The Dragons finish the series at 7:05 p.m. today. Jeremy Horst (6-2, 2.52 ERA) starts for Dayton.
The Dragons open a four-game series at home at 7:05 p.m. Saturday against Great Lakes.
The game will be televised on Time Warner Digital Cable Channel 99.
