Former HHS standout contributes in Vols' opener

Former Hamilton High School standout Adam Myers-White is already playing a significant role with the University of Tennessee football team this season.
The senior linebacker registered three solo tackles (one for a 6-yard loss) and a pass breakup Monday, Sept. 1, as the 18th-ranked Volunteers lost to UCLA 27-24 in overtime in Pasadena, Calif.
Tennessee is idle until a Sept. 13 contest against visiting
Alabama-Birmingham in Knoxville.
• Another HHS product contributed to Duke's 31-7 triumph over James Madison last Saturday in Durham, N.C.
Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Charlie Hatcher assisted on two tackles, one for a loss.
The Blue Devils return to action at home Saturday against Northwestern.
• Lakota West was represented on both sides of the field last Sunday in Louisville, Ky., as Kentucky battered Louisville 27-2.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Josh Chichester caught three passes for 45 yards for the hosts, while junior fullback John Conner had one carry for 2 yards and one reception for 20 yards for the Wildcats.
Both teams will be at home Saturday, the Cardinals against Tennessee Tech and UK against Norfolk State.
Men's golf
Senior Kyle Hodges (Hamilton) tied for 29th with teammate Sebastian MacLean on Tuesday as Xavier placed sixth among 12 teams at the three-day Rutherford Invitational in Farmington, Pa.
Hodges carded rounds of 78, 75 and 75 for a 228 total.
The Musketeers return to action Sept. 8-9 at the Olympic Club Collegiate in San Francisco.
Volleyball
Freshman Katelyn Cravenor (Lakota West), an outside hitter and defensive specialist, contributed 19 kills for Thomas More last weekend as the Saints posted a 3-1 record in their Thomas More Invitational.
The Saints defeated Blackburn, Penn State-Behrend and Earlham, losing to Spaulding.
