XENIA — Lindsey Butterfield and Jaylene Berrien each had 11 kills and five blocks, while Alex Rogers had seven aces as Springfield beat Xenia 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 Thursday, Sept. 4.
The Wildcats, 5-0, will host Sidney in their first match at the new Springfield High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
• Logan Shore had 24 digs and 14 kills as Northeastern beat Greeneview 25-18, 12-25, 25-18, 26-24.
Megan Wagner had 30 assists, Lindsey Pollack had 14 digs and Brittany Markley added 12 digs and five aces for the Jets (3-3, 2-2 Ohio Heritage Conference).
• Catholic Central's Morgan DeWitt had 23 assists, 15 kills and was a perfect 15-for-15 serving as the Irish beat Mechanicsburg 25-23, 25-23, 25-17.
Maggie Williams added 12 kills and six blocks for the Irish (2-4, 2-2 OHC).
• Sarah Overholser had 15 kills as Northwestern beat Graham 25-21, 25-27, 25-13, 25-21.
• Lauren Peczkowski spiked 20 kills, Katie Miller added 11 kills and Kristen Heintz dished out 32 assists as host Kenton Ridge (1-6, 1-2 Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail) beat Stebbins 25-17, 25-8, 19-25, 25-12.
• Alyssa Raterman had 13 kills and seven blocks as Urbana (4-2, 2-1 CBC Mad River) beat Benjamin Logan in five sets 20-25, 25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 15-8.
Boys golf
Scott Rogers was medalist with a 34 to help Tecumseh shoot a season-low score as the Arrows defeated host Bellefontaine 145-168.
Zach Rapp fired a 35, Kyle Furlong shot a 37 and Kyle Jeffers added a 39 for Tecumseh (7-2, 5-1 CBC).
• Quinn Charney had a 36 to help Greenon edge host Northwestern 160-169.
Zach Gerlach fired a 40, and Sam Klarer added a 41 for the undefeated Knights (11-0, 7-0 CBC).
Dylan Stephenson shot a 39 for the Warriors (8-2, 5-2).
• Zach Hartley and Jacob Siekierka were co-medalists with a 37 as host West Liberty-Salem beat Catholic Central 155-228.
• Chris Reed shot a 37, Jeff Nickels and Zach Zink both had 38 and Randon McNeil added a 39 as Kenton Ridge beat host Tippecanoe 152-173.
• Joey Schakat was medalist with a 39 as host Shawnee (7-2, 6-1 CBC) beat Stebbins 167-183.
• Graham's Austin Woodruff had a 43, and Monte Dyke had a 44 as the Falcons beat Benjamin Logan 182-194 at Lakeland.
Girls tennis
Leah Ann Miller, Frannie Trempe and Molly Tehan all won in straight sets in singles action as Catholic Central (3-2, 2-0 OHC) bested Northeastern (5-3, 0-2) 4-1.
• Northwestern (8-1, 7-1 CBC) lost only four games as the Warriors blanked Kenton Ridge (3-6, 3-5) 5-0.
Girls soccer
Urbana's Kirbie Hill and Allie Mackey each had goals as the Hillclimbers (2-3) beat Northeastern 2-1.
Jenna Shull had the lone goal for Northeastern (2-3).
