Four from local swim club took part in Mega Zone meet

Four members of the Miami Valley Aquatic Club qualified to swim in USA Swimming's Central Mega Zone Long Course Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., Aug. 6 -10.
The four Makos athletes, under the direction of head coach Pete Lindsay, qualified to swim as members of the Ohio Zone Team, which had 213 athletes.
The meet had 1,932 swimmers from approximately 15 states competing.
Swimming in the 11-12 age group were Kelsey Gregory, Kyra Reisenfeld and Scott Richmond, with Evan Bader swimming in the 13-14 age group.
Gregory was 43rd in the 100 Free, 51st in the 50 Free, 94th in the 50 Butterfly, 55th in the 400 Free and 59th in the 200 Free. She was also selected by the Ohio Team to swim on the 4x100 Medley Relay, which finished 11th and the 4x100 Free relay, which was 14th.
Reisenfeld swam in the 50 Butterfly, finishing 84th.
For the boys, Bader was 15th in the 100 Breaststroke and 35th in the 200 Breast.
Richmond medaled in seven events and was champion in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:14.93, currently the 10th fastest time in the nation for 12-year-olds. In his other events, Richmond was second in the 50 Breast with a time of 34.62, currently 15th in the nation, third in the 200 Individual Medley, fourth in the 100 Butterfly, fifth in the 50 Butterfly and 16th in the 100 Free.
He was selected by the Ohio Team to participate on three relays, placing third in the 4x50 Medley Relay, third in the 4x100 Medley Relay and sixth in the 4x100 Free Relay.
The Makos invites you to swim with them this fall, beginning Sept. 9. Daily practices will be held in the evening at the Miami University Recreational Sports Center.
