Drug arrests are up across the state and Butler County ranks among the highest, according to statistics provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

During the first 10 months of this year, nearly 20 percent of the patrol's 4,453 drug arrests occurred in five counties — Stark, 179; Franklin, 175; Scioto, 169; Summit, 143; and Butler, 130, OHP announced today, Dec. 2.

There were 59 drug arrests in Warren County and troopers at the Hamilton post, which serves Hamilton and Butler counties, were involved in 143 drug arrests, said Sgt. Tim Karwatske.

Drug arrests are up overall by about 13 percent, according to the report. Through October, troopers have made 505 drug arrests and seized nearly $45 million in illegal narcotics.
