Camping:

  • 71 sites with electrical hookups, 11 non-electric sites, 12 walk-in sites, 5 primitive sites
  • The campground is equipped with showers, laundry facilities, pit latrines and a dump station
  • The General Store offers camping supplies, souvenirs and snacks
  • Pet camping is permitted on all sites
  • Camping is permitted at six picnic shelters by reservation

Boating

  • Boating with electric motors only is permitted on the 15-acre Pine Lake
  • The lake is perfect for canoes and rowboats
  • A launch ramp is located near the beach

Fishing and Hunting

  • Bluegill and other panfish provide good sport for the fisherman on Pine Lake
  • Excellent hunting for squirrel, deer, grouse and turkey in the adjacent state forest
  • A valid Ohio hunting and fishing license is required

Picnicking

  • Picnicking is a popular pastime at Tar Hollow.
  • The picnic areas offer excellent scenery and a peaceful setting.
  • 6 shelterhouses can be reserved through the park office
  • 2 shelterhouses available on a first-come, first-served basis

Trails

  • 3-mile section of the Buckeye Trail passes along the west side of the lake
  • .5 loop trail begins at the nature center
  • 1.5-mile Lakeview Trail skirts the lake
  • Hiking Trail - 24 miles
  • Bridle Trails - miles 25 miles
  • Mountain Bike Trail - 2.5 miles
  • Backpack Trails - 21 miles
