CLEVELAND — Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel might take an administrative position at Akron.

Spokesperson Eileen Korey said in a statement released Wednesday night that Tressel and school officials have been in discussions since December, when he assisted Akron in its search for a new football coach.

Korey said the school and Tressel had "dynamic conversations about Jim's professional goals outside of athletics. We share a common interest in innovative programs for student success. Our discussions continue."

Tressel began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Akron. He was pressured to resign in May after 10 years at Ohio State. Tressel served as a replay consultant last season for the Indianapolis Colts. He met with team owner Jim Irsay about the team's head coaching position but didn't get the job.
