Miami hockey falls to Michigan State in OT

OXFORD — Top-ranked Miami University lost its first game of the season Saturday, Oct. 24, dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to visiting Michigan State in Central Collegiate Hockey Association play.

MSU’s Andrew Rowe scored the game-winner 3:19 into the five-minute OT period.

Jarod Palmer became the 43rd player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau with a goal and an assist to lead Miami (4-1-1, 1-1-0 CCHA). MSU improves to 4-2-0, 1-1-0.

Miami returns to the ice next Friday to start a two-game series at Northern Michigan.

Miami volleyball downs 
Ball State in four games

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Miami University volleyball team beat Ball State 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21) Saturday, Oct. 24, in Mid-American Conference play.

Maria Leahy had 11 kills to lead the RedHawks (12-10, 7-3). Ball State is 10-13, 3-7.
