OXFORD — Zac Dysert’s time has come.

Miami University’s redshirt freshman will make his first collegiate start on Saturday, Sept. 26, when the RedHawks play at Kent State.

“We made a change, putting Dysert in at quarterback and moving (Daniel) Raudabaugh to No. 2,” Miami coach Mike Haywood said Tuesday, Sept. 22, after a practice in which Dysert worked with the first unit.

Dysert, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Ada, was impressive in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 48-26 loss at Western Michigan last weekend.

In two possessions, he guided the RedHawks on touchdown drives of 80 and 62 yards.

Dysert completed 3-of-7 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran seven times for 32 yards.

“He did a nice job when he went in there and executed the offense,” Haywood said. “He had a little more confidence in there.”

Miami had started the season by going 10 straight quarters without scoring a point with Raudabaugh, a senior, as the starting quarterback.

Raudabaugh came on strong in the third quarter and finished the night passing for 288 yards and two touchdowns, but WMU already had built a 35-0 lead.

“We believe we should be more effective on offense,” Haywood said. “We felt this was a great opportunity to put Dysert in at No. 1.
