Miami soccer advances in MAC tourney
OXFORD — The Miami University women’s soccer team blanked Akron 2-0 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
Sarah Dessfelt and Sara Lund scored for the second-seeded RedHawks (13-6-1). Akron fell to 7-11-1.
Miami advances to face No. 3 Central Michigan on Friday in Toledo. The host and top-seeded Rockets face Western Michigan in the other semifinal.
Cross Country: The Miami women failed in its attempt for a three-peat, placing third Saturday in the MAC Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Rachel Patterson earned first-team, all-MAC honors for Miami, while Maggie Bingham and Kelley Miller were second teamers.
The Miami men tied for second in the MAC Championship. David Eichenberger and senior Michael Perry both garnered first-team, all-MAC honors by placing in the top seven.
The RedHawks return to action Nov. 13 in the Great Lakes Championship.
