Sweep keeps Miami hockey atop poll
The Miami University hockey team has retained its spot at the top of the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week.
The RedHawks, who swept St. Cloud State 3-2 and 2-0 over the weekend to open the season, received 24 of 33 first-place votes by coaches in the poll released Monday, Oct. 12. Miami received 496 total points, followed closely by No. 2 Boston (470). The Terriers (0-0) received the other nine first-place votes.
Denver (1-1) is third, followed by North Dakota (2-0) and Michigan (1-1).
Miami (2-0) visits New Hampshire (0-1) on Friday and Saturday for a two-game series.
RedHawks three shots back at UC Invite
HEBRON, Ky. — The Miami University golf team moved into third place Monday, Oct. 12, in the University of Cincinnati Invitational at the Traditions Golf Course.
The RedHawks shot a team-best 287 in the second round to give MU a 592 total, one shot behind Bowling Green and three shots behind Ball State.
In the individual race, Miami junior Nathan Sutherland shot rounds of 74 and 69 to share the lead with Bowling Green’s Drew Preston at 1-under-par.
