Blasi named CHN national coach of year

PRINCETON, N.J. — Miami University’s Enrico Blasi, who led the top-ranked RedHawks to a 27-7-7 record this season, has been named College Hockey News Coach of the Year.

The RedHawks received the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA tournament, which starts this weekend. Miami is playing Alabama-Huntsville in the first round Saturday, March 27, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Other coaches under consideration were Dave Hakstol (North Dakota), Dallas Ferguson (Alaska) and Nate Leaman (Union).

Blasi also was named national coach of the year by CollegeHockey247.com, and in 2006 received the Spencer Penrose Award as national coach of the year.
