The Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame committee has announced its selections for the 11th class of inductees.

These honorees will be recognized Oct. 22 in the annual Banquet and Induction Ceremony held in the Heritage Room of the Shiver Center of Miami University.

The Talawanda Hall of Fame is designed to honor not only former Talawanda athletes, coaches and fans, but also those who may have earned the distinction of excellence at the schools in the area that now make up the Talawanda district, including McGuffey, Darrtown, Somerville, Stewart, Reily and Hanover schools.

This event is open to the public and all Talawanda sports fans are encouraged to attend this event.

The inductees for the 2009 Class of the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame include:

Rick Anderson (1978 THS basketball, baseball);

Nancy Hoskins Bailey (1969 THS basketball, track & field, volleyball, softball, hockey);

Charles Byrne (1971 THS cross country, track & field);

Kyle Johnson (1973 THS football, track & field, wrestling);

Tim Myers (1958 THS football, track, golf, baseball);

Joe Rodgers (1966-69 THS cross country, track & field coach);

Kent Roll (1954 McGuffey baseball, basketball, football, track);

Linda Martin Schnipper (1978 THS field hockey, basketball, track & field);

Jim Wespiser (1954 McGuffey football, basketball, track & field, golf, baseball); and

Jean Woodruff (1959-92 THS Heart & Spirit Award).

The Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and induction to follow.

Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased through the Talawanda athletic office by calling (513) 273-3205, or by stopping in to the THS athletic office. Please RSVP to the THS Athletic Office by Oct. 14.

The committee is seeking Inductee Sponsors ($60), Table Sponsors which includes two tickets ($175), or Event Sponsors which includes six tickets ($600) as interested to support these inductees or the THS Athletic Hall of Fame event.

All inductees will be introduced on Hall of Fame Night at halftime of the Talawanda football game vs. Ross on Oct. 23. Game time is  7:30 p.m.
