Kristen Richardson completed her Capital University basketball career with a flourish as she was named Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
The 5-foot-6 senior guard, a Talawanda High School graduate, averaged 16.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.8 assists per game this season for the Crusaders, who went 20-8 and captured the OAC regular-season title.
Richardson, an NCAA Division III All-America candidate, led the OAC in steals. She ranks sixth in Capital history for 1,477 career points.
Sophomore forward Hilary Kuhns (Fairfield) and freshman forward Meagan McCalla (Lakota West) also contributed to the Crusaders’ success this year.
Kuhns made 13 starts while averaging 5.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest. McCalla, making 16 appearances off the bench, marked 2.8 points and 1.5 boards per contest.
• Cedar Crest sophomore center Elizabeth Sunderhaus (Badin) has been selected to the Colonial States Athletic Conference second team.
Sunderhaus led the CSAC in rebounding with a 12.0 average, also totaling 13.6 points, 2.0 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.6 steals per game for the Falcons (13-12).
Men’s basketball
Redshirt sophomore forward Billy Allen (Hamilton) averaged 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 12.7 minutes per game this season for Albany, which finished 7-25.
Allen made five starts and converted 22-of-71 treys. He was 9-of-9 at the foul line.
Baseball
Senior right-hander Clint Price (Cincinnati Christian) is off to a fast start for Cedarville (7-3). He’s 2-0 on the mound with a 0.90 earned run average, totaling nine strikeouts and two walks in 10 innings.
Women’s lacrosse
Junior midfielder Heather Scholle (Lakota West) has a team-leading seven goals for Mt. St. Joseph (1-1).
Men’s golf
Cincinnati freshman David Tepe (Lakota East) tied for 68th place last weekend at the Ron Smith/South Florida Invitational in Dade City, Fla.
Tepe shot a 10-over-par total of 74-75-77—226. He equaled Joe Kastelic for lowest score on the squad as the Bearcats finished 22nd out of 23 teams.
