CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds made some procedural moves Friday, Nov. 20, to set their 40-man roster, adding seven young players and ultimately losing outfielder Laynce Nix.

Nix, who batted .239 with 26 doubles, 15 home runs and 46 RBIs last season in 309 at-bats, refused an outright assignment to the minors and elected for free agency.

Catcher Craig Tatum, who hit .162 in 68 at-bats with the Reds, was claimed off waivers by Baltimore.

Added to the roster were seven former Dayton Dragons: Right-handers Enerio Del Rosario, Logan Ondrusek and Jordan Smith, left-handers Philippe Valiquette and Travis Wood, infielder Chris Valaika and outfielder Chris Heisey.

Heisey batted .347 at Carolina and .278 at Louisville, combining for 22 homers and 77 RBIs. He’s thought to have an outside shot at making the team in the spring.

No. 1 draft pick won’t need knee surgery

The Washington Nationals say No. 1 draft pick Stephen Strasburg has a dislocation in his left knee joint and should be fine for spring training.

The pitcher was examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles. The Nationals say Strasburg will not require surgery.

The San Diego State right-hander twisted his knee Thursday and has been scratched from his start in the Arizona Fall League championship game.

To "just the facts" -- I almost passed out trying to read that ONE sentence paragraph of yours. But when I regained my senses(after hyperventilating) I realized that I must agree with you! That really was one hell of a long sentence, bud!

Now what that is really needed here is for all the "bleating sheep" Reds fans should get all jazzed up at this Redsfest pr bs, and listen to the talking head ticket hucksters tell us how great they, the Reds, will be, mainly because they've move to the new spring training facilities at Goodyear Arizona, and this is enough reason for they, they being the bleating sheep, to just run right out and buy, buy, buy all those season tickets to watch the crap ooze all over GABP in the spring of '10!!!
