Tyrice Walker, a multi-talented basketball standout at Hamilton High School, and Travis Myers, a champion diver at Talawanda High School, will be part of the 28th class of inductees into the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame.

Walker and Myers will join nine other inductees in ceremonies to be held Nov. 29 at The Courtyard by Marriott in Hamilton.

The other new hall-of-famers will be Dick Ballard, Tony Bradley, Ken Cohen, Paul Fernandez, Norm Grevey, Pat Kreke Jr., Marianne Morris, Di Princell and Dominic Scrimizzi.

Walker played three season with the Big Blue and was named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball as a senior when Hamilton won Greater Miami Conference and district championships.

He went on to play four years at Xavier University under head coach Pete Gillen. Walker was named to the all-conference second team in 1994 and earned conference player of the week three times.

Walker played eight years for the Pekaes Pruszkow in Poland, where he was voted Most Valuable Player of the league in 1995 and 1997, was a seven-time all-star and was voted Best Foreigner of the Decade for the 1990s. His team won championships in 1995 and 1997.

Myers won Ohio state diving championships in 1991 and 1992. He also placed fourth in 1990 as a sophomore and was a high school All-American three years (1990-92). He dove for Miami University from 1994-98.

Myers coached at Talawanda, Edgewood and Ross high schools, instructing several state qualifiers.

Tickets for the induction dinner are $25 and can be purchased in Hamilton at Clark’s Sporting Goods and Tom’s Cigar Store and in Middletown at Stefano’s Italian Cafe.

A general reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 and the induction program at 7.

B.S. - You are right, Kreke degrades all other H.O.F. members. He's a joke of a coach. Is he going in for setting the record of keeping a job 10 years longer than he deserves? Maybe it's for having the most kids quit a program.

I agree that George Hahn should be in the Hall of Fame. Remember him for what he did in his high school days.
