Writer backs Mills in Milford Twp.
Perhaps you have already met our newest candidate for Milford Twp. trustee. Brad Mills has been walking the village streets and country roads for weeks to meet the voters face-to-face.
So what can Brad offer our township? First of all, he is an environmentalist, interested in protecting farm fields, green space and the rural nature of our community. Brad will monitor the ever-encroaching development and possibly suggest changes to zoning and land use.
He is tuned into 21st century technology and will try to increase availability of broadband and lower-cost Internet without tax increases.
Brad knows the value of a dollar, and he will strive to provide the township with the essential services — road improvement, fire and police protection — without raising taxes. This certainly is important now, more than ever, in our poor economy.
This candidate believes in the open-door policy and he plans to be readily available to his constituents. Brad realizes that township residents have much to offer about local problems and ultimate solutions.
Finally, Brad is a young man with a young family – a wife and 23-month-old daughter. Family values are highly important to him. He should bring fresh and innovative ideas to township meetings. In addition, his employment as a math teacher and his broad educational background and experience in engineering should be assets.
Please cast your vote for Brad Mills for Milford Twp. trustee in the November election.

Tilton gets support in Hanover Twp.
It is always a pleasure to recommend a friend for public office, and I have that privilege today. Mike Tilton is running for Hanover Twp. trustee. Sometimes when you learn about someone running for an office, you say to yourself, of course he should. He would make an excellent trustee. All his friends, acquaintances and neighbors can tell you what a fine trustee he would be. Mike not only grew up in Hanover Twp., but he and his wife, Teresa, chose to stay, raise a family of delightful children and to actively participate in the life of the community. He has served the people of the township in many ways. He was on the board of trustees of the Farm Bureau and a member of the Ohio State Extension Advisory Committee. He also serves Butler County as a member of the Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol. Twice, the members of Butler Rural Electric voted Mike as a member of the board of trustees and he is currently serving as the Hanover Twp. representative. Mike has also been involved in the Hanover Twp. Park Committee, working diligently to provide members with a walking path that is enjoyed by many in this community, including this writer. It is a beautiful addition to the park and provides a setting for the antique car show. Mike knows the township and its people and is committed to making this township a wonderful place to live. I hope you join with me in voting Mike Tilton for Hanover Twp. trustee.

Frimerman keeps pledge to land
We are writing to support the re-election of Larry Frimerman to Oxford Twp. trustee. Larry has served us well as a representative of the township and as a liaison and important bridge to the city of Oxford.
We have the good fortune to live in an area with the benefits of a small town business community along with the rural nature and farmlands of the township. Larry has made it a priority to ensure the preservation of the rural character of our greater community through his work on the comprehensive planning process as well as his work with the Three Valley Conservation Trust.
If you appreciate the beauty and quiet of the rural areas, as well as the importance of the farmlands for agriculture and livestock, vote for Larry Frimerman. He has demonstrated his commitment to these values through the years and he won’t let us down when it comes to preserving Oxford Twp. as the beautiful greenbelt and gateway to the city of Oxford.

Councilman backs Frimerman
It has been my pleasure to know Larry Frimerman for years, and I urge knowledgeable voters to join me in voting for Larry for Oxford Twp. trustee. I think he is a spokesman for all businesses and property owners and someone who gets the big picture yet has his feet firmly planted on the ground.
As someone who has been involved in government, I know Larry understands and knows how to implement conservation measures of which others only speak.
While one could aptly describe him as an environmentalist, he also can be described as one who respects and values private property rights. Please consider Frimerman for Oxford Twp. trustee.

Foundation helped ‘Summer’ program
The Center for American and World Cultures and the Western College for Women Archives, Miami University Libraries thanks the Oxford Community Foundation for its support of the “Finding Freedom Summer in Oxford, Ohio” Teacher’s Workshop. The workshop was held in conjunction with a national conference, “Freedom Summer: Unity and Change, Then and Now” that honored the 45th anniversary of the Mississippi Freedom Summer.
As a key initiative of the Civil Rights Movement, Mississippi Freedom Summer united organizations such as the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Congress of Racial Equality in the struggle to gain voting rights for Mississippi’s unregistered African-American voters. As part of the project, college students from across the United States were recruited to travel to the South, where they worked tirelessly to register voters, set up community centers and establish Freedom schools.
