Location & description:

Paint Creek is located east of Hillsboro in a valley surrounded by rolling hills. Paint Creek is known for its abundance of wildflowers, including the rare Sullivantia which blooms in the gorge in mid-summer.

Camping:

195 sites equipped with electricity

Features laundrey facilities, hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station

Three Rent-a-Camp units available summer months by reservation. Include tent, dining fly, cook stove, cooler and other equipment.

Pets allowed on designated sites

Primitive horseman's camp available for riders who bring their own mounts

Boating:

Unlimited horsepower boating is permitted

Three launch ramps provide access to the lake

Boat rentals, fuel and seasonal dock rentals are offered

Fishing & hunting:

Hunting on the lake for waterfowl and on the adjacent wildlife area

Pheasant, white-tailed deer and rabbits are plentiful

Fish species include bass, catfish, bluegill, saugeye and crappie

Valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required

2005 fishing forecast: Paint Creek Lake, 1,190 acres: This is now probably the best crappie fishing lake in southwest Ohio, especially in the early spring and late fall. Also rated as excellent is the catfish fishing, mostly May through July. - Jim Morris

Areas with tables and grills provided near marina nd beach

Trails:

Hikers can explore four trails from .75 miles to 2.5 miles long.

Trail riders will enjoy the 25 miles of bridle trails

There are 14 miles of mountain bike trails

Swimming:

1000 foot sand beach

Bathhouse with restrooms and changing booths

Pioneer Farm:

Paint Creek Pioneer Farm located on west side of the lake

Includes log house and log buildings, gardens, livestock and fields represent a typical farm of the 1800's

Area attractions:

Fort Hill State Memorial, a prehistoric Indian hilltop earthworks located south of the park

Seip Mound State Memorial, built by the Hopewell Indians
