Location & description:

Located in Yellow Springs. John Bryan features a gorge that has been carved out of the limestone by the Little Miami River. More than 340 species of wildflowers grow wild, 100 different trees and shrubs have been identified in the park and more than 90 different varieties of birds live in or visit the park area during the year.

Day Lodge

Available for rentals throughout the year

Equipped with restroom facilities, large screened-in porch, two fireplaces, refrigerator, kitchen with stove and 50-cup coffee maker

Camping:

The family camp area has 10 sites with electrical hookups and 89 non-electric sites

Most campsites have picnic tables, fire rings, latrines, drinking water and a dump station

Campers with pets are premitted on any site

One Rent-A-Tepee campsite comes equipped with a camp stove, cooler, lantern and sleeping pads.

A 100-person group camp area is available for organized groups on a reservation basis.

Two adirondack shelters are available in the group camp area

Reservations can be made by contacting the park office

Boating:

The Little Miami River is excellent for canoeing

A launch area on Jacoby Road provides access to the river

Fishing & hunting:

Bow hunting only in designated areas.

Fish species include smallmouth bass, panfish and rock bass.

Stream fishing

Fishing prohibited in the state nature preserve

Valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required

Picnic areas:

Four areas available: upper, lower, Wingo and Orton

Lower and Orton each have a shelterhouse available on first-come, first-serve basis

All areas have tables, grills and latrines

Some areas have drinking water

Mountain Biking

There are 8.5 miles of mountain biking trails Power Line trail, 2 miles, twisty turns, ong runs, a boardwalk, creek crossings and a small ramp. Just inside of Power Line is a Skills Park with log piles, balance beams and bridges to practice agility. Abracadabra is a 2 mile section of flat and fun riding with a boardwalk and small creek crossings. Great Scott is the longest trail at about 4.5 miles and has some small climbs, creek crossings and several boardwalks.

Rock climbing and repelling:

Rock climbing and rappelling area has been established within the park

Must stop at park office to register for an area

Organized groups may reserve the rappelling site by calling the park office at (513) 767-1274

Area attractions:

Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve is located adjacent to the park

Clifton Mill
