Lake Loramie: Crappie fishing has been very good all over the lake. Find some wood or brush and fish with minnows or jigs tipped with waxworms. Bluegills are hitting waxworms or redworms along rocky banks. A few saugeyes are still being caught in the spillway. Catfish have been biting on nightcrawlers and chicken liver.

Indian Lake: Saugeye fishing has been outstanding. Most of the action has been from boaters, although a few have been caught off of the south bank. Boaters are trolling husky jerks, Rat-L-Traps and crawler harnesses. The best spots have been the flats off of Lakeview, Oldfield, Wolf Island and Pew Island. Crappies are hitting minnows and jigs around docks and lily pads. Bluegills have been biting on waxworms and redworms in the brush and under docks. White bass are still being caught at the covered bridge.

Grand Lake St. Marys: Despite the no-swimming alert from the EPA, fishing continues to be good. Anglers are catching crappies in the channels. Most are small, but some keepers will be found. Fish in brush or under pontoons. Bluegills are hitting waxworms around rocks and docks. Catfish are biting all over the lake on nightcrawlers, cut shad and minnows. Bass fishing has been slow.

C.J. Brown Reservoir: White bass are biting all over the lake. Anglers are casting Roostertails, Kastmasters and white twisters. Fish the deep water around the marina for crappies. Use minnows or jigs tipped with waxworms. Walleye fishing has been slow.

Paint Creek Lake: The lake has been flooded with no access for about six weeks. To check if any ramps are open for the weekend, call (937) 365-1436. Spillway fishing has been good. Look for calm areas and fish for saugeyes with chartreuse or white twisters. Try a minnow under a bobber to catch crappies.

Rocky Fork Lake: Crappie fishing has been good all around the lake. Look for wood and fish 3-10 feet deep with minnows or tubes. Bass fishing has been steady. Use shad-colored crankbaits or green/pumpkinseed plastics and fish along the banks at depths of 3-5 feet. Saugeye fishing is generally slow with the best action around the south beach. Twisters tipped with nightcrawlers have been working. Bluegills are hitting waxworms in the coves.

Cowan Lake: The water is muddy again, but crappie fishing continues to be outstanding. The best fishing has been in shallow water with minnows or jigs tipped with waxworms. Bass are being caught along the banks on spinnerbaits and plastics. Try as surface lure early in the morning. Catfish are biting on nightcrawlers and chicken liver. A 36-inch muskie was caught over the weekend by a bass fisherman.

Acton Lake: Crappies are biting like crazy, but most are small. You might catch 150 and keep only 10. Look for brush and fish with minnows, jigs tipped with waxworms or try chartreuse tubes or twisters. Bass are staging for spawning, so look for them in shallow water and throw spinnerbaits (white, yellow or chartreuse). The best saugeye fishing is below the dam with chubs and bass minnows. A few have been hitting minnows in the lake, presented by crappie fishermen. Catfish are biting on nightcrawlers and chicken liver.

Rush Run Lake: Bluegills are biting on waxworms and redworms. A few stocked rainbow trout are still being caught on waxworms or Powerbaits. Use nightcrawlers or bass minnows to catch catfish.

Caesar Creek Lake: All boat ramps are open, but some of the docks are still out of service. The lake is still about 4 feet high and the water is very muddy. Fishing is just starting to pick up. Crappies, mostly undersized, are being caught in the brush. Catfish are hitting nightcrawlers, chicken liver and cut shad.

Lake Erie: With storm after storm this spring, the lake is still mostly muddy. The best walleye fishing is in clear water around the islands and north of Kelley’s. Perch fishing has been picking up in 25-30 feet of water.
