Indian Lake: Saugeye fishing has been excellent with plenty of limits every day. Minnows have been the best bait, fished from the south bank and Oldfield or from boats near Moundwood and Dream Bridge. Crappie fishing has been very good around Long Island, Lucy's and Pony Island.
Acton Lake: Saugeyes have been hitting brightly colored jigs tipped with nightcrawlers or large minnows. Fish on the bottom around rocky points. For crappies, fish about 3-5 feet deep with minnows or green/black jigs.
Rush Run Lake: Plenty of trout remain from last week's stocking. Use small, flashy spinners, waxworms or corn. Bluegills have been hitting waxworms.
C.J. Brown Reservoir: Walleye fishing has been good over the old roadbed and off of the rocks near the dam. Use jigs tipped with large minnows or simply bottom fish with a minnow or nightcrawler. A few catfish have been picked up the same way. The larger crappies are 9-10 feet deep around the marina and also off of the rocks. Fish the spillway for walleyes and crappies.
Clark Lake: Good crappie fishing continues. Use waxworms or minnows. Bass have been hitting spinners along the banks. The annual trout stocking is scheduled for Friday, March 27 around noon.
Caesar Creek Lake: Plenty of saugeyes have been caught in the coves and around the Wellman Ramp. Use jigs and minnows while drifting in shallow water. Crappies are about 14 feet deep and hitting on minnows. Last week a 42-inch muskie was caught in shallow water, photographed and released. For largemouth and smallmouth bass, fish along banks with crankbaits.
Grand Lake St. Marys: Crappie fishing is still good in the channels, around brush and wood. Use small green, red or orange jigs tipped with waxworms. Minnows are also catching crappies and waxworms are bringing in bluegills. Catfish have been hitting cut bait all over the lake. The Windy Point bait shop has closed.
Lake Loramie: Crappies have been biting when the wind is coming out of the southwest. Use minnows, jigs or waxworms. Bluegills have been small and biting on waxworms. Fish in the spillway for saugeyes with a white split-tail twister. Catfish have been biting on worms.
Cowan Lake: The lake level is too low for boat ramps to be used. Those who put in small boats from land or fish from the bank are catching crappies on small jigs and minnows.
Paint Creek Lake: The Lake is still at winter pool, so the U.S. 50 ramp is the only one open. Crappie fishing has been excellent around wood and brush along the channel banks from Plum Run to the campground. Use minnows or blue/chartreuse jigs and fish 2-3 feet deep in the mornings and evenings and 5-8 feet deep during the day. Saugeyes and crappies are hitting in the spillway. Rocky Fork Lake: Crappies have been hitting jigs and minnows along the south shore. The South Wall area has been the best. Fish 3-5 feet deep. Blue/chartreuse has been the best jig color. Catfish have been hitting cut shad from Fisherman's Wharf to the campground. Bass are on the rocks, hitting shad-like crankbaits.
Lake Erie: Good walleye fishing is taking place on the Western Basin reef complex and nearshore from Locust Point to Crane Creek. For Lake Erie information, call (888) HOOK-FISH or visit wildohio.com.
Maumee River: The run is in full swing with plenty of walleyes being caught all along the river. Buttonwood, Fort Meigs, White Street, Sidecut Park and Bluegrass Island have been hot spots. For information, visit maumeetackle.net or wildohio.com or call (888) HOOK-FISH or (419) 407-9731.
Sandusky River: Fish around the dam in Fremont. Large walleyes have been caught this year, 20-25 inches. Conditions are good. For information, call (888) HOOK-FISH or (419) 332-6071 or visit wildohio.com.
