Abortion pill case goes to Ohio Supreme Court
The question of whether Ohio doctors have the flexibility to prescribe RU-486, the abortion pill, beyond 49 days into a pregnancy is going before the Ohio Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 10.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved RU-486 in September 2000, based on clinical trials involving women up to 49 days into their pregnancy receiving a 600 milligram dose plus a second drug two days later.
Since then, doctors have developed “off label” protocols that called for a 200 mg dose plus the second drug three days later for women within 63 days of getting pregnant. Planned Parenthood clinics in Ohio started using this method.
But in 2004, Ohio passed a law limiting doctors to prescribing RU-486 only in compliance with federal laws. It became a felony to do otherwise.
Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio sued to block the law and have it declared unconstitutional. Two questions in the case have made it to the Ohio Supreme Court: whether state law limits prescriptions for RU-486 to within the 49 day window and whether different off label doses are permitted under state law.

How about men take control of their sperm for once? Maybe if guys would take responsibility and use condoms now and again, there wouldn’t be so many unwanted pregnancies. Why do people persecute women for their decisions when it takes two to tango? What are men doing to prevent abortion. Standing outside of a clinic and yelling at women before they have surgery isn’t helping.By jerica

I am pro-choice. The choice is before pregnancy. The choice is that I embrace my female body and all that it is. I choose life, love, for me and all. Something that hurts people should not be permitted by law and by each other.By Pro-Choice

The abortion drug, also known as mifepristone, has been responsible for the deaths of at least a dozen women worldwide and has injured more than 1,200 according to FDA figures from 2007. The Ohio legislature passed a law requiring abortion businesses to follow FDA guidelines when using the drug, as off-label usage by Planned Parenthood abortion centers may have contributed to the women’s deaths. If women deserve good health protection this is a good law.By J

There are so many reasons for a woman to make the difficult decision to abort or not to abort. REGARDLESS of the reason, the decision should be between the woman who will be undergoing the proceedure and her partner and doctor NOT between some bureaucrats in DC or religious/anti-abortion groups/people. I don’t tell you what religion to have. I don’t tell you how to raise your children. I don’t tell you how to live your life. So PLEASE stop telling me how to live mine!By Freethinker

It is obvious that Freedom Lover is a man. He probably also doesn’t believe in birth control either. It is amazing to me that people who preach that abortion is wrong most of the time also believe that birth control is bad. Well, there isn’t this magical place where babies are only born to wealthy perfect married couples. People have problems and choices. Should they purposely bring a human into the world with multiple disabilities. Should a woman who is being abused bring a child into the situation. Should a woman who is addicted to crack and been using have the baby. These aren’t easy decisions. No woman who gets an abortion does it lightly. People that believe in the FREEDOM of choice don’t think Woo Hoo abortions for all. That is absurd. It is one reason that abstinence only education is a crock. If people are going to have sex they need to know the safe way to do it. For the Christians that are preaching about what their bible says, it is fine if you don’t believe in my beliefs, but your beliefs are not the only ones that count. Not everyone believes in your religion. That is why we have the FREEDOM of choice. It is sad that Holly Patterson died, but there are side effects to all drugs. There is a big difference between pro abortion and pro choice. And it is my very strong belief that a woman knows and does what is best for all her unborn and born children.By Barry

Freedom of choice = murder. Abortion = muder. Everyone is for “freedom” “freedom” is good. Killing babies is bad, abortion is kind of luke warm, “freedom of choice” is good. Depending on what words you use things are either good or bad. I prefer to define abortion in this country as the legalized murder of babies for profit.By TKidding

There are reasons to see both sides of the issue with compassion. Let us find common ground and work to prevent the causes of abortion instead of changing the law to fit our personal beliefs. If you want to do research, consider the following: How many women die from pregnancy complications? How many women died getting back-alley abortions when it was illegal? How many women are victims of rape and incest? How many children wait to be adopted in foster homes? How many children die in 3rd world countries from lack of care? There are no easy answers.By Freedomlover

To all the pro-abortion advocates, A child is created in the image of God. Any person who with premeditation takes an innocent life is guilty of murder. The Bible is very clear that no murderer’s will be cast into the lake of fire.Is freedom of “choice” worth spending eternity in hell?By Ethel S.

After Terry Lee Schiavo, my view is any medical decisions should be between the patient and her/his physician. If a woman thinks there is need for an abortion, then it should be safe and rare as well as a woman’s choice within the guidelines of Roe vs. Wade. Some women have a difficult time with abortion, then they can make a different decision. This abortion pill seems to have too many complications to be safe and rare.By staffingpro

I took the advice of “Freedomlover” Holly Patterson died by taking Mifepristone then immediately taking Misoprostol (this procedure is not recommended by any doctor). Perhaps if she had been more informed and not afraid to seek the help of her parents she would still be alive?By ironic

RU-486 is a human pesticide. It doesn’t matter whether it’s “legal” to use up to 49 days post conception or 63 days. It’s objective is to kill a human being created in the image of God. It can also prove fatal to the mothers. GOOGLE: Holly Patterson. She’s just one of the mother’s who have died in the process of killing her unborn child.
