OXFORD —

Midweek games are having a resurgence on Miami University’s 2013 football schedule.

The RedHawks only had one non-Saturday game last season when they went 4-8 for the second straight year. This fall, they will have four.

The Mid-American Conference released its full schedule Friday afternoon, and MU’s last four games won’t be played on a Saturday: Tuesday, Nov. 5, at home against Bowling Green; Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Kent State; Tuesday, Nov. 19, at home against Buffalo; and Friday, Nov. 29, at Ball State.

The Nov. 5, 13 and 19 affairs will be televised by ESPN2 or ESPNU. The regular-season finale at BSU could be on ESPNU or ESPN3.

Miami coach Don Treadwell did not respond to a phone message seeking comment Friday afternoon. In a university release, he said, “We are looking forward to our nationally televised midweek games against our MAC opponents, which will provide an opportunity to showcase the university, our football program and the conference as well.”

The RedHawks will start the year with four nonconference opponents, and the lone home game in that group will be against Cincinnati on Sept. 21. Miami will open at Marshall on Aug. 31 and also visit Kentucky on Sept. 7 and Illinois on Sept. 28. Those four opponents were a combined 19-30 in 2012.

MU’s MAC schedule will begin Oct. 5 at home against Central Michigan. Akron will also be a home game Oct. 19, and Massachusetts (Oct. 12) and Ohio (Oct. 26) will be road contests.

Miami had the same eight conference opponents in 2012. The venues have been switched this year.

Promotional dates are Sept. 21 (White Out), Oct. 5 (Family Weekend) and Oct. 19 (homecoming, Red Out).

The only official starting time that has been released is for the Bowling Green contest. That will be an 8 p.m. kickoff.

The MAC championship game is set for Dec. 6 at Ford Field in Detroit.
