About Miami: The RedHawks trail 25-24 in this series and have lost nine of the last 10 meetings, including a 54-50 decision at Millett Hall on Feb. 9. MU hasn’t won in Akron since Feb. 20, 2003. … Miami has 69 blocked shots this season, 32 less than Akron’s Marshall. … A loss to the Zips would give the RedHawks 20 losses for just the third time in school history. MU was 9-21 last season under Charlie Coles and 5-23 in 1988-89 under Jerry Peirson (though eight of those defeats were forfeits). … Felder ranks fifth in the MAC in field-goal percentage (51.8).

About Akron: The Zips’ 19-game winning streak came to an end with an 81-67 loss at Buffalo last Saturday. … Akron can clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming MAC tournament with a win over the RedHawks. … Marshall is four blocked shots away from the MAC single-season record held by Ohio’s Patrick Flomo. Marshall is also leading the MAC in field-goal percentage (66.0). … Treadwell is among the conference leaders in rebounding with a 7.5 average.

Coach John Cooper on Akron: “They’re coming off a loss, they probably didn’t play great, but it might actually be a welcome relief for them. That doesn’t bode well for us, but you’ve got to play the game. They’ve got it all. They absolutely have some guys that can shoot the ball, and they’re way bigger than us. My guess is they probably won’t take us lightly based on the first game.”
