Staff Report

Police are working to locate a group of suspected Hamilton men who brutally assaulted and threatened a trio of Oxford residents over the weekend.

The victims of the assault told police they were walking through an Uptown parking lot at around 3 a.m. when a group of males made comments toward a 24-year-old member of the group. When they brushed off those comments, they allege between 15 and 20 males became involved in a parking lot brawl.

The 24-year-old male who was initially threatened told police he got into a friend’s car, but got back out when he realized his friends were being assaulted outside. He told police he exited the car to help them, but an unidentified white male grabbed a brick and struck him in the chest. The same male then struck another of the victims in the shoulder with the brick.

Witnesses described the man as approximately 5-foot 8-inches tall, with blond hair and no shirt on at the time. The victims said he later threatened to shoot them with a .22 caliber gun, but nobody actually saw the weapon.

Police said witnesses were able to get the license plate numbers for three vehicles the assailants entered, which all trace back to Hamilton addresses. Officers already suspected the assailants were from Hamilton, as witnesses said they were yelling “H-Town” as they fled the scene.

No arrests had been made in the case as of Tuesday, but police said they are following up on the reported license plates and related names in hopes of locating the men.

Information compiled from Oxford Police reports.
