Planning to ring in the New Year with a glass of champagne and maybe a beer or two? Then clip this article.

While there have been advertisements for free cab rides for New Year’s Eve revelers, those services are limited to Cincinnati and Dayton.

However, thanks to funds provided by MillerCoors, the Applebee’s in Hamilton on NW Washington Boulevard and the Applebee’s in Middletown on Towne Boulevard will be offering $10 cab vouchers to customers needing a ride home, according to employees.

“Drunken driving is completely preventable and our alternative transportation programs are an important aspect of our overall commitment to promoting responsible decision making,” said Kim Marotta, vice president of corporate social responsibility for MillerCoors.

Extra patrols will be out to catch drivers under the influence so partygoers are urged to have a designated driver, said Sgt. Jeremy Landis of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

“We just ask people to plan ahead, know who is going to be the designated driver, stay at the party or call a cab,” he said.
