MILFORD TWP. — A man who crashed his vehicle Wednesday on a township road did so to avoid a head-on collision with a passing car, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Jean Collett said around 8:45 a.m., Doug Lasanen, 60, was driving north in the 3800 block of Hamilton Richmond Road when a southbound vehicle passing a car failed to return to its lane, according to witness testimony.

Collett said Lasanen swerved in his 2001 Ford vehicle to avoid a collision. The man struck a pole and his vehicle landed on its side. Collett said Lasanen was not injured.

The accident was cleared from the roadway by 9:30 a.m.

Collett said Lasanen is not being cited in the one-vehicle incident. She said no license information was noted for the passing vehicle so no charges will likely be cited for that person.
