OXFORD — Experience “The Magic of Glass” at a special exhibit opening at the free Second Friday event, from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 S. College Ave.
“Metamorphosis: The Magic Of Glass,” curated by Stephanie Zing, explores the breadth and depth of the variety of glass, with blown glass, torch worked glass, kiln formed glass, cast glass, stained glass, enameling, and mosaic with glass elements from a number of local and regional artists.
The exhibit includes work by Oxford resident Monica Tsang Rakovan, who is a torch work glass artist making beads and smaller glass objects, along with others from around the state.
The event will also feature landscape and nature photography by Ronald Levi. Levi’s images have appeared in Audubon, BrownTrout, Downeast Books, Goes Lithography, Indiana PBS Television and many other publications.
Both exhibits open at 6 p.m.
The event continues throughout the night with live music and open artists studios.
Ballroom Dance, with Nancy Sturgeon and Janet Holmes offering gentle instruction, begins at 8 p.m., with open dancing between 9 and 10 p.m. There is a $5 fee benefitting the center, but no sign-up is required.
The evening will be capped by the Oxford Musicians 4th Annual OCAC Benefit Concert “Songs Of The Season” at 8 p.m. Admission for the concert is $10 at the door; children free.
