OXFORD — Talawanda High School theater students will present the musical comedy “Lucky Stiff” three times this weekend.
The shows will be at Talawanda High School at 7p.m. March 5 and 6, as well as 2 p.m. March 6.
The audience will meet 21 characters in “Lucky Stiff,” said director Ryan Steffan, a teacher at Talawanda High School.
Characters’ lives are unknowingly connected to each other in the play, which also had 15 crew members.
The main character is Harry Witherspoon, a local shoe salesmen who faces a moral dilemma when he is offered $6 million in exchange for transporting his uncle’s dead body to Monte Carle.
The part of Harry will be played by Drew Campbell, a senior at Talawanda High School.
Steffan has been the director of the Talawanda High School Theater Program for 10 years.
He graduated from Ball State University in 2000, where he triple majored in English, speech, and theater.
He runs the Talawanda Drama program with his wife, Marie, and together they direct two plays at the high school each year: a drama in the fall and a musical in the spring.
Steffan is also involved with OxAct community theater.
“This show is truly a collaboration between my students and me,” Steffan said.
“Many students would never guess the girl they sit next to designed an entire costume plot or that the guy in front of them could play, well, an entire piano score for a show, but this shows what a group of students can do with a lot of time and hard work and a little guidance.”
Tickets for the show are $8 per person and can be purchased at the door or by calling (513) 523-3063.
