WEST CHESTER TWP. — An illegal immigrant who was selling falsified identification has been arrested, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Efren Morales-Reynoso, 23, of Mexico, sold undercover agents a Social Security card and Permanent Resident Card — or green card — both of which were fake. Authorities said he was arrested on Interstate 75 near Union Centre Boulevard today, April 22, and charged with two counts of forgery, a fifth-degree felony.
Morales-Reynoso met with the agents on Tuesday and took a $20 deposit with the agreement that he would produce the false documents, officials said. Agents met with him today and paid for the documents before his arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.
In addition to the $140 payment for the documents, police confiscated $160 and a 1997 van.
The sheriff’s office reported Morales-Reynoso will likely face deportation when the case is finished. He remains in Butler County Jail on $5,200 bond.
