After ice and freezing temperatures on Saturday, there’s a chance for strong thunderstorms and tornados Sunday night and into Monday morning.
“This cold air will slowly be going away,” Local12 Meteorologist Scott Dimmich said on Saturday.
“We have at least a scattering of showers” Sunday night, he said. A line of thunderstorms develops after midnight by about 3 a.m. Monday.
The Tri-state area is under a risk for seeing strong and severe storms.
“I think all modes of severe weather are possible,” including hail, Dimmich said. “I cannot rule out a threat for tornados at this time.”
“Check and make sure your weather radio has fresh batteries in it,” he said.
Sunday’s high is 45 degrees. Monday’s high is 46 degrees with rain mostly before 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
