Schnipper named Conservationist of the Year

Butler County Pheasants Forever named Oxford resident Michael Schnipper as their 2010 Conservationist of the Year at their Feb. 27 banquet.

The banquet was held at Jungle Jim’s Oscar Event.

Schnipper served as chapter secretary for more than 10 years, helping organize and coordinate the chapter, creating and maintaining the chapter Web site, as well helping with the multiple jobs needed to stage the many fund raising events of the chapter.

Schnipper was presented the award by chapter chairman Mike Simmons near the conclusion of last Saturday’s event before a crowd of nearly 250 attendees. The event was emceed by WLW radio’s Mike McConnell and auctioneer duties were handled by Doug Ross.

College Corner resident Randy Woolum received a framed print of his dog, Woolum Mavric Attitude. Mavric was the 2008 Trial of Champions winner in the National Shoot to Retrieve Association and a four time national field trial champion. The original of this print was painted by noted wildlife artist Chris Walden, and a reduction of the artwork was used on the event program cover. The print was awarded to Woolum in recognition of his, and Mavric’s, accomplishment in winner the national championship.

Pheasants Forever is a national, non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the establishment, restoration and enhancement of habitat for upland wildlife. Their conservation efforts help pheasants, quail and other game and non-game species.
