OXFORD — A fund raiser for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland will be held in Oxford Wednesday, Aug. 25.

Strickland, who is seeking re-election in November, will be the guest of honor at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of Glenn and Judy Rymer, at 6440 Fairfield Road. Tickets are required and cost $50 to $1,500.

“It is so exciting to have Governor Strickland here in Oxford,” said Don Daiker, president of the Progressive Political Action Committee.

“I can’t remember the last time a sitting governor came here. It’s especially appropriate, since he has made education along with jobs recovery the centerpiece of his administration, that the governor is visiting the home of Miami University,” he said.

The Strickland reception is sponsored by the Oxford-based Butler County Progressive Political Action Committee. It is co-sponsored by the Butler County Democratic Party, the Change Butler PAC, the Hamilton-Fairfield Democratic Alliance and the Miami University College Democrats.

Special guests at the reception will include Democratic Congressional candidate Justin Coussoule and Butler County Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Dobrozsi Romans. Judge Romans, who in 2008 was first appointed to the court by Strickland and then elected by the voters, will introduce the governor.

Tickets must be purchased by Friday, Aug. 20 with a check payable to “Strickland for Governor” to Donna Mollaun, 5690 Elm Hill Lane, Fairfield, OH 45014. For more information, call (513) 874-7512 or e-mail tmollaun@aol.com

Benefactors $1,500; chairs $1,000; sponsors $500; and hosts $200 receive two tickets, a photograph with the governor and their names printed in the program. Benefactors, chairs and sponsors will be acknowledged and recognized by the governor during his address.

For further information on the event, contact Progressive PAC President Don Daiker at daikerda@muohio.edu or (513) 233-1329.

In addition to Daiker, Mollaun and the Rymers, the reception planning committee includes: Rick Bailey, Clyde Brown, Pete Carels, Eric Carman, Marilyn Elzey, Jessica Gephart, Bill Gracie, John Harman, John Kinne, Stephen Kostyo, Laura Kretz, Mary Melvin, Hugh Morgan, Kathy Romano and Kate Rousmaniere.
