MILFORD TWP. — Voters elected a new member to the Milford Twp. Board of Trustees and brought back longtime member Paul Gillespie.
Brad Mills won 891 votes – nearly 48 percent – to earn a first term as a trustee, according to unofficial election results from the Butler County Board of Elections.
Gillespie won 495 votes, just ahead of candidate Robert Ison, who earned 472 votes, according to unofficial results.
The election will extend Gillespie’s service on the board, which he has been a part of for 22 years.
“I thank the voters for re-electing me,” Gillespie said, who has brought in nearly $1 million in grants during his time as a trustee.
“I’ll just try and get some more money that’s out there grant wise to stretch our dollars,” he said. “And just continue to try to do a good job for the township.”
Mills said he believes his door-to-door campaign at nearly 1,000 houses in the township helped him connect with voters.
“They believe that we can do big things together,” he said.
“I’m very excited about winning,” he said. “I think of being a trustee for any elected office as a service to the community. As a teacher at Hamilton High School, I’ve always considered myself a public servant and I wanted to continue that and have a positive effect on the place I live.”
