OXFORD — Miami University has again been named a top best value for public colleges in the nation.
The university ranks 62nd among in-state best values on the Kiplinger’s Personal Finance “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” from the magazine’s February issue.
Miami is ranked 70th for out-of-state value.
“Miami is pleased to be included again,” said spokeswoman Claire Wagner. “We’ve been in it every year since they’ve published.”
Wagner said the rating recognizes Miami’s efforts to offer a great experience, high academic rigor, but also keep an eye on costs.
Kiplinger starts with 500 public schools and narrows their list based on academics like admission rates, student-faculty ratios and graduation rates. They then rank schools on cost by looking at things like total cost overall and average among of debt a student accumulates before graduating, according to Miami.
“It’s helpful to be on a list so that more students and their parents can be aware of Miami,” Wagner said, adding that the university hopes everyone interested in Miami will visit the campus.
