Talawanda Middle School

Talawanda Middle School invites veterans to join them for a Veterans Day Reception at the school from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on today, Nov. 11. They would like to recognize Veterans Day and local veterans’ service to our country. To make a reservation call Mrs. Greenberg at 273-3309.

Hanover Twp.

Hanover Twp. trustees and the veterans committee invite everyone to a special ceremony at 11:30 a.m. today, Nov. 11 at the Veterans’ Memorial Area of the Hanover Township Park located at the intersection of Old Oxford Road and Morman Road.

The ceremony include posting the colors by the Lt. Terry C. Graves Detachment of the Marine Corps League, a short musical salute, a keynote speech by Colonel Dean Smittle-a military analyst with WLW Radio, playing of taps by Talawanda Band Trumpeters, presentation of the veterans’ ceremonial wreath by the Veterans Committee and closing comments.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Pipe and Drum Corps also will participate. The group has for two years provided an excellent element to this solemn ceremony and recognition.

After the ceremony between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., the public is also invited to a luncheon sponsored by Cincinnati United Contractors for veterans and guests.

Uptown Park

Everyone is invited for a tribute to veterans at Uptown Park at noon today, Nov. 11. The Miami University color guard will be present and several guest speakers will share their thoughts on Veterans Day.
