Campus Ministry Center

A three-part workshop called Homosexuality & the Bible will be held on consecutive Saturdays Nov. 7, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Campus Ministry Center, 16 S. Campus Avenue.

The free workshop is open to all and participants will explore different scholarly interpretations of accounts of creation in Genesis, the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, the first chapter of Romans, and several other passages.

The Rev. Mike Underhill, formerly director of the LGBTQ Religious Studies Center at Chicago Theological Seminary in Chicago, will facilitate the workshop. Underhill is currently pastor of Nexus Church of Hamilton.

Cobblestone Community Church

Cobblestone Community Church will hold its regular worship service at only at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

At 11:30 a.m., instead of the usual second service, members of the church will gather for their annual meeting in the auditorium at The Loft, the church’s ministry facility at 4191 Kehr Rd., in Oxford.

Regular Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. will resume Sunday, Nov. 15.

College Corner United Methodist Church

College Corner United Methodist Church will hold its annual Salad Bar Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. The meal is $6 and includes chicken and tuna salads and assorted fruit and vegetable salads, pie and beverage. Carryout will be available.

Faith Lutheran Church and Lutheran Campus Ministry

Faith Lutheran Church and Lutheran Campus Ministry, located at 420 S. Campus Ave. across for the Miami University Health Services Building, invites Miami students Friday evenings to share in student-led Bible study and home-cooked meals prepared by students. Called Fridays@5, it begins at 5 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m.

Sunday mornings a traditional service is held at 9 a.m. and a more informal praise worship is at 11:15 a.m.

Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:15 a.m.

For the month of November, Sunday school outreach “We Care, We Share” is Nickel November. Look at the calendar and contribute a nickel for something different each day, with all the money collected going to help our neighbors in need through the Family Resource Center.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, the church will host “Faith’s Table” with a hot meal at 5:30 p.m. Food is served in the downstairs fellowship hall and basic necessities are shared from the dry goods pantry.

First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church will hold Soup-On from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 for a donation of $7. The menu will include spaghetti or hoagie sandwiches with fix-ins.

First Pentecostal Bibleway Church

The First Pentecostal Bibleway Church will hold Sunday school for all ages from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sundays. Light breakfast will be served and transportation is available to the church, at 100 Homestead Ave.

Hopedale Unitarian Universalist Community

Hopedale Unitarian Universalist Community will have “Dissent, Unitarian Preaching, Radical Politics” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday Nov. 8, with speaker Kim Jacobs-Beck and service leader Patty Klingenberg.

Childrens’ religious education and childcare provided during the service. 

Hopedale is located at 3870 Millville Oxford Road, two miles south of Oxford on Ohio 27.

Oxford Bethel A.M. E. Church

The Oxford Bethel A.M. E. Church has a new pastor, the Rev. Angela Walker.

Walker comes to the church from West Virginia and will be relocating to the Oxford area in the near future.

Bethel A.M. E. Church holds Sunday school at 9 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m.

Bible Study is held at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday in the church, located at 14 S. Beech St. near the intersection of High and Beech streets.

Oxford Presbyterian Church

Pastors Mark and Barbara Barnes begin a three part sermon series on the congregation’s new Mission Statement “Seeking God, Serving Others, Sharing Christ’s Love With All” at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

The church will also have its monthly fellowship dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Mike Johnson will speak about the Choice Pantry. For more information contact OPC at 523-6364 or oxfordpresbychurch.org.

Oxford United Methodist Church

Oxford United Methodist Church will hold Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. After the service, everyone is invited for Thanksgiving/Celebration Dinner in Fellowship Hall.

Pastor Fred Shaw will give a sermon on worshipping God in the joy and hope of Jesus Christ titled “Giving Your Life Away.”

Sunday school will be offered during the 10 a.m. service.

Next weekend, the church will sponsor the American Indian Cultural Awareness Event, “Giving Our Hearts Away” at the Oxford Community Arts Center. For more information, go online to oumc.org.

The Nov. 15 service at 10 a.m. will be a Native American Sunday.

The Korean Methodist Ministry meets at 12:15 p.m. every Sunday in the OUMC Chapel.
