Grant applications for history-related projects now being accepted

OXFORD — Grant application forms for 2010 proposals for history-related projects qualifying for funding from the W. E. Smith Family Charitable Trust are now available with a deadline for submission of April 15.

Applications can be requested from the Trustee, The Smith Family Charitable Trust, First Financial Wealth Resource Group, P.O. Box 476, Hamilton, OH 45012, phone (513) 867-4831, and are available at the Oxford Visitors and Convention Bureau, and at the reference desks of both the Oxford Lane Public Library and the Smith History Library in Oxford.

Funded by a bequest from the estate of the late Ophia Smith, the charitable Trust was established to promote and encourage interest in regional history and to support historical research and publication.

Longtime Oxford residents, Dr. W. E. Smith served as chair of the Miami University Department of History, and Smith wrote two books on Oxford history, and together they collaborated on research and writing of a three-volume “History of Southwestern Ohio: The Miami Valley.”

Grants must include sponsorship by a nonprofit beneficiary, such as an historical organization, library, municipality, school, church or philanthropic institution. They must include the organization’s nonprofit EIN/Tax ID number.

The deadline for grant applications is April 15. Each request must include an outline of the proposal, the amount requested, the name and address of the person submitting the application and the sponsorship.

Mail completed applications to: Trustee, The W. E. Smith Family Charitable Trust, c/o First Financial Wealth Resource Group, P.O. Box 476, Hamilton, OH 45012.
