Find local Independence Day celebrations

From Friday’s fireworks in Fairfield to the final blast Sunday, area residents will be celebrating this nation’s independence this weekend. Here’s a list of activities close to home.

FRIDAY, JULY 3

Fairfield

Red, White & Kaboom from 
6:30 to 10:30 p.m. in Fairfield. Blast of Brass Tour with BlueStone Ivory and Second Wind perform at Village Green Park. The Rusty Griswolds perform ’80s rock at Harbin Park.

The Fairfield Aquatic Center will be open from 8 to 11 p.m. for the Fireworks Swim. Rozzi’s fireworks at 10 p.m. will be visible from all three locations.

Oxford

Celebration starting at 5:30 p.m. in Oxford. Penny carnival from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with games, inflatable toys and more. Parade at 7 p.m. in Uptown Parks. Bike parade for children ages 6 to 12. D.J. Toad will entertain at 8:30 p.m. at the Miami University Ditmer parking lot, 
Ohio 73. Rozzi fireworks at dark.

SATURDAY, JULY 4

Middletown

Parade at 10 a.m. in Middletown. Parade route travels from Rosa Parks Elementary School, along Verity Parkway, to Smith Park.

Lebanon

Armco Park Fourth of July Festival: noon at Armco Park, 1223 N. Ohio 741, Lebanon, (513) 727-3980, www.armcopark.com.

Monroe

Light up the Sky festival: noon to dusk at Monroe Communnity Park, 500 S. Main St., Monroe. Family oriented activities include rides, games and live music beginning at 1 p.m. with local groups the Rick House Band, ESP, Slick Affection and Perfect Brew. A parade is at 5 p.m. at Heritage Green Plaza. Fireworks will go off at dusk.

Hamilton

Parade at 10 a.m. starting at the Butler County Fairgrounds in Hamilton. Parade will disband on Front Street. The Hamilton Concert Band will perform at 10 a.m. at the Courthouse band shell. At noon, a patriotic ceremony will be held at the band shell with Hamilton Mayor Don Ryan presiding, 21-gun salute, and music by Hamilton High’s New Harmony, Sweet Adelines and Rod Reider.

Rozzi’s fireworks at 10 p.m. at the river.

Liberty Twp.

Parade at 10 a.m. starting at Lakota East High School, Wyandot Lane, Yankee Road to Liberty Park. Festivities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Liberty Park.

SUNDAY, JULY 5

Light Up Liberty at 6:30 p.m. at Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton Glendale Road. Free open car show, watermelon, kids activities. Crabb Family Reunion and Austin’s Bridge will entertain. Food vendors. Fireworks at dark.

being a young family that decided to buy a house 5 years ago in middletown is once again disappointed in our city not offering a holiday event in our city! i guess we will all go spend our money in a neighboring city and listen to everyone complain why middletown is going down the drain!

very true news junkie, but i bet that thy get good vacations and trips form the city.

The once "Great All American City" of Middletown has nothing to offer its citizens again. What has happened to the leadership of this city to let their citizens go out of town to enjoy this holiday. So Sad.
