HAMILTON — The region will be hit with more snow and frigid weather as part of a winter storm that has brought subfreezing temperatures throughout the South, claiming the life of an area man.
A second shot of snow this week is on its way, according to the latest weather forecasts from the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Forecasters are predicting 3 to 4 inches of snow to fall on Thursday, Jan. 7, in what could be the region’s biggest storm of the season.
Meteorologist Scott Hickman said Tuesday that snow is expected to begin falling between 7 and 9 a.m. Thursday and continue throughout the day.
“It’ll come in pretty fast once it gets going,” Hickman said. “It should snow all day and then gradually tapper off.”
Butler County officials said road crews will be ready late today in preparation for what could be a significant snowfall on Thursday.
“We’ll be ready,” said Chris Petrocy, spokesman for the Butler County Engineer’s Office. “We’ll have all the trucks loaded up the night before.”
No more snow is expected today, and temperatures should remain at a high of about 25 degrees today and Thursday.
But come Friday, temperatures are expected to plummet.
