Accounting firm showing businesses story behind the numbers

FAIRFIELD — For Kirsch CPA Group, building a success story is about more than just crunching numbers and preparing tax returns.

“We do those things, but we view that as just the starting point for helping business owners position themselves for growth and position themselves to achieve their goals,” said John Kirsch, founder and managing director. “We’re in a unique position in being familiar with the numbers and therefore can provide some insight as to what those numbers mean.

“The numbers of a business tell a story. It’s for us to help the business owner understand what that story is.”

The firm, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, offers the owners of small and medium-size businesses insight into how to grow their business and make them better.

“The growth over the 20 years has given us the ability to do that over a broader scale,” Kirsch said.

Kirsch started the business in Oxford on his own in 1991, then brought in more accountants over the years to keep up with a rising flow of referrals from friends and business associates. He opened a Fairfield location in 1997 and a West Chester Twp. site in 2004.

Now with a staff of 20 certified public accountants and business advisers, the firm offers an array of tax, accounting and consulting services. This includes management advisory services, succession planning, Quick Books consulting, and representation before the Internal Revenue Service, administrative agencies and lending institutions.

Kirsch, who worked for a CPA firm when he was a senior in high school, said he knew early on it was the kind of work he wanted to do for a lifetime.

“It’s given me the opportunity to be in a field where I’m truly helping people ... and playing a role in helping small business people create jobs, which lifts up everyone.”

Being in the profession also has allowed Kirsch to develop community service opportunities. He serves on the board of three non-profit organizations — Community First Solutions, Badin High School and Design Impact. Each Christmas, Kirsch CPA Group employees wrap presents for One Way Farm residents.

“I’m a firm believer that we’ve been given our gifts and we have a full responsibility to use them in a way to help others,” he said.
