Tickets still available for Bread Not Bombs Dinner

By Staff

OXFORD —

Tickets still are available for the 28th annual Bread Not Bombs Dinner, hosted by Oxford Citizens for Peace and Justice.

This year’s dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 1 at a new location — the Oxford United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 14 N. Poplar St., Oxford.

The event will feature delicious homemade food; live music by the Jericho Old Time Band, Laurie Traveline Neyer, and the Oxford Gourd and Drum Ensemble (OGADE); and the 2012 Peace and Justice Award. There also will be a Holiday Peace Market that will include artisan roasted, organic, better-than-fair-trade coffee.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for Students and those on Limited Income; children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door.

The theme of this year’s dinner, “The Future We Want,” is borrowed from the Rio+20 Summit, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development convened last summer to discuss ways to reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection on an increasingly crowded planet. That conversation is equally relevant locally.
